Cherry Blossom Lager, Old Dominion Brewing Co., Dover, DE
The label pays homage to Through the Looking Glass and enjoying this lager during cherry blossom season is rightfully appropriate. It has fruit on the nose and a light cherry taste. It’s refreshing.
It is oddly refreshing, who’d have thought I’d enjoy cherries in my lager, it is odd. Refreshing spring daytime brew though, that is nice in the afternoon one springtime Sunday…maybe even two or three.
I’m noticing how right LBiggs and our other Old Dominion friends were when they suggested that, to get the full effect of the flavor, this is the first beer you should try. I’m off today, the day after Memorial Day. I’m trying this now after lunch and its cherry flavorful. However, its subtle and easily masked or over-powered to the point of unnoticeable, if its not your first taste. I don’t think I’ve tasted it quite like this, really dynamic flavor and cherry recognition or not, is a pleasantly tasty lager. Its raining hard, my golf day is ruined and oddly, its only just now shaping up to be a pretty cherry day.
