Amalthea Cellars 2010 Cabernet Franc Reserve, Outer Coastal Plain, Atco, NJ

Amalthea’s wines are incredible and this wine and vintage in particular are astounding. Upon opening, the nose and palette overwhelm with light fruit and black pepper. Then the flavor adventure begins starting with peppery, zinfandel-like deliciousness and developing into dark berry and plum and smooth, complex tobacco and smoke. As it’s open longer and over the course of a dinner, it continues to mature and change. I enjoyed this compliments of ACBC on my birthday this week and paired it with Chef’s delectable hanger steak. An elevated birthday experience!
