Although the Stone Company Store does not have the featured view that is pictured, they do have all the delicious Cali-Belgique you can enjoy. I was surprised that I could not find a blog post where we highlighted this brew here on Brew Bloggers dot net previously, as we have been enjoying this one for quite some time. However, there is an awful lot to be said for enjoying this here at the source. Located a few blocks from our hotel this one can be hard to find, as there is not much permanent signage. Get off the trolley at the Santa Fe Depot (while they’re open) and look for the lollipop-style gargoyle stop sign (see map snip). We were here for a day or two before we could find this one, we kept looking for it and finally it appeared. I was so excited to be here and fill growlers to take back to the room, I think I was a bit too much for the laidback levelheadedness style of our soon to be favorite (Stone Store managing staff). Cassie (man I hope I spelled your name correctly) said to me in a softer more subdued tone, “…man I think you have way too much energy for this place…I just thought it had to be said…”. With that I about split at the seams laughing and realized that Stone brew here is as everyday as the sunshine. We enjoyed this place so much and it was because of Cassie and the rest of the managing staff. They are informative and as soon as they see your passion for their brews, its like an instant kinship where they give you the knowledge dump you seek.
Each time I have Cali-Belgique (or Cali-Belgie), I enjoy the delicious flavor and experience more than the last. The epitome of tasting this brew, for me, is here in San Diego. Whenever I return here in the future, I will enjoy it more and more. So go visit Cassie at this Stone Company Store in San Diego and tell her Brew Bloggers Dot Net sent you 😉
