A faint to nothing coconut aroma sparks my anticipation and I quickly take a a sip. A smooth deliciously simple porter sends me searching for coconut. What at first I was leery of tasting, leaves me wondering. Am I coconuts or, is there no coconut in here?
You are correct, the coconut is very subdued. I really had to search and barely found it. In talking with the brewer, he told me that they put the coconut into the mash. They even reduced their coffee addition and used whole beans, as opposed to ground, but to no avail. I think the second batch will see the coconut much more present.
